A popular cross between a McIntosh and Red Delicious. Excellent flavor and sweetness. 
Originates from New York, in 1945. Cold-hardy.  Pollinator required. Cross-pollination by a different variety within 100 feet is key to is growing and bearing success. Can use another early or mid-blooming apple variety such as a Gala or Red Delicious.
